I'm an artist who cannot sleep sometimes because I have to get my ideas out of my head and into one of my journals. When I start creating these pieces, I keep painting and layering colors and words until I love it so much it will sting to let it go. When I want to keep it for my own walls, I've done my job.

I am so creative I wear people out with my ideas ... I love it, they laugh. And if the person can absorb it, I'll keep going.
Although I studied art and received a BFA in Fine Art & Advertising from SMU in Dallas, Texas, I really feel I'm a self taught artist.

I am so creative I wear people out with my ideas ... I love it, they laugh. And if the person can absorb it, I'll keep going.
Although I studied art and received a BFA in Fine Art & Advertising from SMU in Dallas, Texas, I really feel I'm a self taught artist.
My biggest influences in my life for art and beautifully crafted items came from my parents. My mother was a classically trained ballerina who also barrel raced in rodeos in Texas and Oklahoma. She was a talented interior designer with a passion for quality, history and texture. My father was an engineer who painted realistic landscapes in oils.
I was blessed with a childhood full of exposure to design and interiors of the 1970's, pop culture iconography, fantastic music from the strife of the Viet Nam war and Civil Rights movement and the hard work of my parents in their fields of expertise.
All of this influenced me as an artist.
“The 1854 Collection” is my whimsical creative interpretation of a grid mixed with ancient motifs, iconic luxury, and antique brooches...always with a petite butterfly thoughtfully placed. Because like the butterfly, I too have gone through a metamorphosis.

“The 1854 Collection” is my whimsical creative interpretation of a grid mixed with ancient motifs, iconic luxury, and antique brooches...always with a petite butterfly thoughtfully placed. Because like the butterfly, I too have gone through a metamorphosis.
This collection was inspired by an antique wooden textile block I found in a French antique shop over a year ago. The pattern on the block inspired my research into antique textile designs in Egypt, Africa, India, Greece and China.
Then I researched luxury brands. Louis Vuitton was created in 1854, Hermes was founded in 1837, Chanel in 1910, Verdura in 1937, and the Maltese Cross in the 15th Century.
Then I looked at the polka dot grids by Damien Hirst, the grids of big city streets, the grids of drafting paper from my dad's desk, aerial grids of farmland from an airplane, a box of chocolates, windows of a building.
There are grids everywhere in our lives.
And it all came together into this collection.
