Biography

Crystal R. Cox studied at Southern Methodist University in Dallas receiving her BFA from SMU in Studio Art and Advertising.  After working in California for a division of Saatchi & Saatchi in motion picture promotions, Crystal moved to Atlanta and took additional classes in Interior Design.  Her work as an independent interior designer gives her a deep understanding of visual aesthetics, color schematics and scale in both residential and commercial interiors. 

Crystal began painting again in 2015, professionally in 2016.  Crystal is capable of using various mediums to create different looks.  Years were spent perfecting a complicated process she created using layers of resin, oil, acrylic paint, photography and 24 karat gold leaf. Mixed media is her specialty.

Crystal's work has been featured in several designer show houses, in private commissions across the country and marketing campaigns including Chateau D'esclans' Whispering Angel Rosé. Crystal was asked to create a series for a curated show at Art Basel 2017 in Miami where her work was displayed at The Eden Roc Hotel.   Christian Dior displayed her Art Basel collection with their famous Dior “Basel Bags" in the Atlanta boutique. After Art Basel Crystal chose to be an independent artist without further representation by galleries. 

Over the years, Crystal has a history of charitable fund-raising and has donated proceeds from her pieces and/or chaired fund-raising events for: The High Museum Wine Auction, Pace Academy, The National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, The Fernbank Museum, The French Heritage Society, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Breast Cancer Research, The Global Gift Foundation, The Ricky Martin Foundation, The Eva Longoria Foundation and others around the country.

Currently Crystal is working as an art and design advisor on a $400M commercial mixed-use project to be announced Summer 2022. She is now taking 2 commissions per quarter with a waitlist.

Time is split between her studios in NYC and Atlanta with her own new boutique gallery coming to Atlanta Fall 2022.
